What's new? Holiday!
Time to do nothing, read, cook, make coffee, visit friends, practice pieces that I would normally not practice… this blissful state will last for at least one month. Then it’s time to go to Richelieu for the music weekend in Le Grippault, which takes place on 23 and 24 August. We will play a concert in the church and a musical theater performance in the woods around Le Grippault. You can join us there (and buy some great wine in Chinon)!

After that it’s back to teaching. In September, I will start coaching a new research group of master students from the Vocal Leadership department of Codarts. End September, the school year starts in Bern and I will see my wonderful cello students again. Keep an eye on the public events page if you want to hear them play!
If you want to hear me play, there are some interesting concerts coming up in the Netherlands as well. On the 13nd of September I play Richard Rijnvos’s string quartet ‘Selene’ with the Ives Ensemble in Amsterdam. We gave the premiere last year and I am excited to play this wonderful, brand new masterpiece again. Richard writes music that seems to come from the future, and this particular future looks very bright.
Looking into the other direction, namely the beginning of the 20th century: half September I play three concerts with the Hortus Ensemble, with piano quintets by Frank Martin and Julius Röntgen on period instruments. I am really happy that the Hortus Festival made a restart.
But first, a bit more of nothing!
